Photograph Your Doodle
Do ya think I have an ulterior motive for this topic? You would be right, I’ve been sharing the photos received this month on Facebook, and didn’t think to hold many back for the newsletter. I now it’s not good planning on my part, however, if I received more….well, you know.
As part of my online photo class, our recent weekly challenge was to snap pics of our furry friends. A lot of the hints were about shutter speed and lighting and I’m not trying to give a photo class here. There were some helpful tips about how to take the best photos of your doodles – my instructor owns a goldendoodle so she does qualify as an authority on cute.
Eye Level – Get down to your dog’s eye level. He can be on the porch with you standing on the ground, you may need to lie down on the grass, I sometimes simply hold the camera down and shoot – I’m bound to get one good photo.
Don’t Use the Flash – Try to take photo using natural light. The flash will startle the dog and the photo will have shiny yellow.green eyes that “red eye correction” simply doesn’t correct – they’ll look like something from a Dean Koontz novel.
Avoid Background Clutter – This would be true for any photo, but the pooper scopper in the background really does ruin the whole shot.
Capture Their Silliness – One of my favorite photos, and I think most of you have seen it, was of the doodle on the step stool trying to get to his treats.
Now go forth and photograph that cute dog!
